Be Prepared!

This morning I drove about 30 miles per hour to work. My thought was “Well, winter is finally here.” I was one of those who was hoping that the snow would just forget about Southwestern Michigan, but it was just fashionably late. I also realized I had no brush to get the snow off my car. For someone who has lived in the region my whole life, I can’t believe I was so unprepared for the snow! So, along with the help of Sawyer Garden Center’s great products I am going to help you check all of the winter weather necessities off your list.

First thing, make sure you have some sort of tool to scrape the ice and snow off your car. It is dangerous to drive without a clear view out all windows. We have the standard ice scrapers and brushes, but we also have something better… The Snow Broom! This “As seen on TV” product is exactly what its name says; a snow broom with an ice scraper that conveniently fits in your car!

And if you call within the next five minutes!!... Kidding :)

But in all seriousness, this snow broom is super handy!

It is also smart to keep a little “survival kit” in your car. For me this consists of a blanket, some candles, extra boots, gloves and hats and a flashlight. You can find most of these everyday items in our store. In case you get snowed into your house, stock up on some FireLogs! These fire starting logs make starting a wood stove super easy! Plus they keep the fire burning longer. We have a wide variety of types and sizes. We also have things like easy to use lighters, long reach matches, shovels and bags of salt to help eliminate the ice on your walkway!
