Get Your Grass Growing!

Right now is the best time to plant grass seed! This includes patching any spots that don’t look too good. Why now? The temperature is perfect, the soil has just enough moisture and most importantly, planting grass seed now gives the seed enough time to establish a root system and germinate before the ground freezes. For best results, follow these steps:

  1. Choose your seed.
  2. Use a sturdy rake to loosen all of the soil in the area you will be planting.
  3. Spread a light layer of compost or top soil on top of raked soil.
  4. Use a spreader to distribute the seed. If you do not have a spreader, get close to the ground when laying seed and spread it evenly with your hand.
  5. Spread a thin layer of New Seedling lawn fertilizer
  6. Use a lighter rake to spread the soil over the seed
  7. Newly seeded lawns must be watered every day.
